I’m currently sitting in Magill and getting distracted by the wicked cool Chinese calligraphy exhibit instead of, you know, actually being productive1. I am actually really impressed by some of the scrolls– one of them looks to be a scorpion and the tail is made up of Chinese characters. Another one like it is a fish with a lot of ‘魚‘ for a tail.
Then of course, there are scrolls with baby pandas and Chinese figures in them and I think everyone knows my opinion on baby pandas. :)
In any case, I’m impressed and somewhat envious. I know from prior experience that I lack talent for Chinese calligraphy and art.
Cue, high school “Chinese class”.
MASTER CHINESE CALLIGRAPHER:*demonstrates how one holds a brush and writes simple characters*
STACY: *valiantly attempts to write ‘春天‘’*
MASTER CHINESE CALLIGRAPHER: *observes* …. 加油!
JOHNATHAN: *writing random Chinese characters*
MASTER CHINESE CALLIGRAPHER: 很好!非常好!I think you are the best in the class!
JOHNATHAN: … I have no idea what I’m actually doing. :D
STACY: … *drowns in a pool of her own tears*
I’m now backing up all my data2 before going to the Apple store and my laptop is agonizingly slow at the moment. I’m using that as an excuse to troll about on Facebook and not work on my two study guides and Polisci paper.
