autumn on the east coast [original fiction-ish?]
Here are the things I love:
The red-gold-brown of fallen leaves that crunch underneath my boots when I trek across campus.
The seasonal pumpkin flavored pastries and lattes.
The heady scent of wood-chips and inhaling cold, crisp air on evening walks.
The silky texture of my cashmere wrap, its weight on my shoulders.
The elegant picture of Bryn Mawr girls in wool peacoats, colorful scarves, and knit hats heading towards their respective classes.
Here are the things I dislike:
The days of endless rain.
Retiring my flip flops until spring, buying new pairs of socks because all of mine are missing its twin or full of holes.
The cold (oh the cold) chilly evenings when the heat hasn’t been turned on in the dorms.
The lack of sunshine, the waning daylight hours, the feeling that every living thing on this campus is dead or dormant until spring.
Five o’clock in the afternoon– it looks like midnight.

[...] It’s six o’clock and it’s already pitch dark. I hate this about the fall/winter. [...]
