howl’s moving castle
So I just watched Howl’s Moving Castle for the first time with my friend Claire. I feel like my heart is going to explode from sheer happiness. Do you ever get this intense, intense love for something that it makes you crazy in a good way? That’s how I feel about the movie right now. I watched the English dub and it was brilliant, everyone did an amazing job.
Christian Bale as Howl? Dead on. I love Jean Simmons as Sophie– her delivery was fantastic (“That could be him” made me laugh) and dry comments. Oh Calcifer. I loved his delivery when he said “IT’S FREAKING ME OUT”. Claire and I actually had to pause the movie at that point because I couldn’t stop laughing. Speaking of the Witch of the Waste– in the second half of the movie, she looked just like a regular customer I had over the summer. (The one with the son who texted me and told me I was very beautiful without capitalization or punctuation and he used the wrong ‘you’re/your’. … Yeah.) It was very distracting.
Sophie and Howl are so adorable together. I swear my heart melted into my chest because I’m a sap. As cynical as I can be sometimes, there are certain couples that are just so right that I can’t help but love them.
Also: Andrea’s parents took us out for dinner! It was fantastic. They seem to approve/like me because they gave both Andy and me huge care packages filled with yummy Asian snacks. And they laughed at my “So, everyone back home is under the impression that I’m dating an Andy” story.
I also tried my hand at rearranging my room and failed. I am not strong enough to turn my captain bed around so the drawers aren’t facing the wall. I’ll try this new arrangement for a while.
